IPod which is a name in itself that needs no introduction and it has been more than 12 years since the iPod is entertaining us. Let us look at the journey of the iPod. Back in the year 2000, when Steve Jobs and Apple was undergoing a bad state, then as usual Steve Jobs came up with a beautiful idea. Apple announced that it was launching an MP3 player with the thought that at that point of time, no one in the entire market thought of digital music.

Apple’s iPod would hold 1,000 songs, could be recharged within an hour and would cost $399. When the iPod was launched few of the tech critics said that it was neither the cheapest, nor the first device available in the market, but within a span of five years, via its iTunes Store, Apple would go on to become the number one music provider in the world. In the year 2007, Apple launched iTunes and it is now the biggest digital music library of the entire world.

As per one of the renowned professor, he states than the iPod was the first MP3 player which left everybody spellbound. Gradually within 2 years, it started gaining popularity and in the year 2004 Apple launched variants of iPod like iPod Mini and iPod Nano which increased the market penetration to a large extent.

In the year 1998, the first portable digital music player was launched which was named as MPMan F10 but it was not able to gather interest and thus it collapsed.

Jonathan Rubinstein, head of Apple’s hardware division called Tony Fadell to work as a project manager for iPod but didn’t disclose the project to him unless Jobs gave the green signal. After that, he worked up for the design and at last Jobs finalized the design what it is today. Fadell’s idea of iPod bought a paradigm shift in the business model of Apple. Steve Jobs himself was a great admirer of the music and therefore he warmly welcomed the idea and the result of the efforts of Team Apple is in front of everybody.

Jobs said in an exclusive interview that “in our times we didn’t have video games or personal computers to play or to explore. Today’s generation is very lucky that it has so many gadgets to use and learn and Apple is proud to be a part of the same.”

All in all what we can say is iPod and iTunes are one of the finest products from Apple and we hope that in the future Apple continues to make new milestones.
